I use an abundance of fruits and vegetables on top of the bread dough, brush with a high heat oil like avocado or grapeseed, then bake until the bread is browned and the toppings are earthy, smoky, and delicious.

Here you can see how I have prepped some of the fruits and vegetables for this version of my ornamental bread. Prep can be time consuming, but worth it. You want to have your toppings cut and ready in order to create a design that will be inspiring, and delicious!
Ensure that the fruits and vegetables you select have had the water eliminated as much as possible, as drier means crispier and no sogginess. Let some release their water by sitting in a colander, with a sprinkle of salt to aid in the dehydration, or use paper towels to press into the fruit/veg...you get the picture. Use your imagination for the ingredients! Don't forget seeds, nuts, and other toppings to add to the look and taste of your final delicious masterpiece.
