The literal translation for crème anglaise is English cream. It is a thin vanilla custard, made with cream, sugar, eggs, vanilla....essentially vanilla ice cream. Simplest hack ever, and an appreciated one, when you don't have time to stand over the stove making it from scratch! Find the highest quality ice cream you can, check the label, and avoid those with stabilizers and other ingredients we can't pronounce. An easy addition to serve over fruits, cakes and tarts.
Prep Time: ice cream thaw time
Ingredients - High quality vanilla ice cream 😇
To prepare, take the desired amount of ice cream and place it in the refrigerator for several hours to melt and then use. You can also thaw the ice cream by placing it at room temperature for approximately 30 minutes. Do NOT thaw by placing in the microwave, that alters the perfect consistency you get with thawing at room temperature or in the refrigerator.
