White Sangria

There's nothing better in summertime than a light fruit sangria. Your options are endless for the flavors, after deciding on your wine, use your choice of berries or citrus fruits, and liqueurs, brandy, rum, or vodka. Make a pitcher for your next outdoor barbecue or summer party. The sangria is best served after chilling it in the refrigerator for a few hours for the fruits to meld with the wine.

Prep Time: 10 minutes Yield: 6-8 cocktails

INGREDIENTS:

1 bottle (750 ml) Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc

1/4 cup Chambord berry liqueur***

1/4 cup honey or simple syrup

1 pint (2 cups) blueberries, divided, reserving 1 cup

16 ounces strawberries, halved, reserving several for drink garnish

Club soda or sparkling water

In a clear pitcher, add 1 cup blueberries and 2 cups halved strawberries. Pour in honey and limoncello. Let sit a few minutes, stir gently, then pour in the white wine. Refrigerate for a few hours before serving.

To serve, remove pitcher from refrigerator.

Place 1/4 cup fresh berries in bottom of each serving glass. Pour in white sangria, top with soda, stir, and garnish as desired.

***Other options:

Substitute the Chambord for another fruit liqueur, such as orange liqueur or limoncello. Pair the type of fruit for the pitcher mixture based on the flavor of the liqueur you select.
